    I think perhaps its not the TCP "messages" that are incomplete, since it is just a packet stream and knows nothing about the contents. Its the FIX messages that are being split over multiple TCP packets, such that any given FIX Buy/Sell message is incomplete. So not the transport layer, but the session layer that is being held up on incomplete messages?

    • @rupertsmith6097
      @rupertsmith6097 2 дні тому

      Also seems like little advatnage to be had here. A FIX Buy/Sell message could be only a few hundred bytes and fit into a single TCP packet. The last byte will also take a single TCP packet. Unless these Buy/Sell messages are unusually large for some reason (like trading more complex instruments that need many more parameters or something)?

    Amazing video, Coding Jesus! 🌟 Your insights are incredibly valuable, and your experience really shows. I’ll definitely be applying your advice to my resume! Quick question: What’s the best way to showcase relevant projects on a resume for a quant trading job? 📄🤔 I know you're busy, but I really hope we can connect personally because I have more questions and would love to learn from your experiences. I’m a bit hesitant to reach out, worried you might not have time to respond, but I appreciate your busy schedule! 😊

    In your analogy, you still mention that the last (non-corrupt) byte gets sent to the corresponding trade order (for instance, to a "bullish trade" for good news). Does that not mean that they would have to wait for the news to decide which trade should go through? So the order would be: wait for news - interpret as bullish or bearish - send last byte to corresponding trade. How would that be faster than *not* having your trade already 99% of the way to the exchange, since you still have to wait for the news? Surely it can't be due to the time difference that it takes to send the prior 9 bytes of info (in your example)? Is that all the edge they need?

    80% of the volume of the day is by algos and there is multi-billion industry behind it. Algos are written by people. So people behind those algos are making a ton of money. So how come you are saying day trading is not profitable? The problem is not day trading but the discipline, retail traders simply do not follow their system as algos do.

    Hello Coding Jesus! I am a Math/CS graduate and a Data Science/Machine Learning MSc student about to begin my thesis. Over the past 3-4 months, I have developed a strong interest in Quantitative Finance and would like to focus my thesis on this area. Although I lack professional and academic experience in Quant Finance, I am eager to explore it further. Could you please suggest a few topics for my thesis? I don't know wich of the options I can follow (Sentiment analysis of financial news, AI-Driven portfolio optimization, etc.) as I am not very aware of the market last trends

    Thank you for posting. Great results for the year. I have met a number of quants over the years and they believe the same things as you said. However, let's go a step deeper. You returned 47% in a year that NVDA has gone up over 3X (and your NVDA is up 7x from your buy point). You have index funds and some random under performing stocks. To be honest you are right that even such a poorly managed, poorly position sized account has beaten many other traders out there. But don't for a second think that you are exceptionally smart or skilled. Even within your own method, you have managed poorly. You yourself could benefit from going 100 percent market index funds. Your picks and position sizing is an indication of your skill level and understanding of the market as an imvestor. You maybe a great quant but by no means you are an exceptional investor or fund manager. Hope you take a second during those bathroom trading hours and come to your senses. Good luck!
